Pacific West Builders was established in 1982 as a partnership comprised of Patricia Romero and her husband, Dennis Ord.
With Dennis in the field swinging the hammer and Patricia running the front office and overseeing contracting, the team grew Pacific West Builders into a small yet a successful and reputable residential construction company. After Dennis’ passing in 1998, Patricia became the sole owner and contractor of record and a new era of the company’s exemplary service commenced. Reorganized as a Subchapter S Corporation and Sole Proprietorship and founded on the experience and knowledge gained in years of business ownership, construction contracting and building, Patricia expanded the company’s vision and set her sights on contracting in the public works sector. She set a growth plan into a motion, obtained certification for the company as an 8(a) Contractor, a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) and a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), allowing entrance into the Federal Contracting arena through set aside programs relative to those certifications. She located the company’s main corporate offices in a Hub Zone and Business Enterprise Zone, allowing entrance into an additional set aside program for Federal Contracting geared towards providing job opportunities, increasing tax revenues and improving living standards in qualifying areas.
With the proper certifications in hand and a system primed for offering Federal Construction Contracting services, Patricia took an additional step to solidify the transition of her private construction contracting knowledge into the Federal contracting paradigm by participating in various mentoring programs including membership and training with the American General Contractors (AGC) and participation in the Small Business Administration’s Mentor-Protégé Program whereby Pacific West Builders joint ventured with a larger, established company with a long track record of successful government construction projects to its credit in a relationship that offered PWB the prime opportunity to grow its expertise and hone its knowledge by demanding accountability and responsibility yet offering an environment of support for learning. Through the program PWB took the primary role as general contractor on an array of job types taking projects through the many phases of development from conceptualization to the handing of the keys to a satisfied customer and molded itself into a highly capable, thoroughly experienced and deeply committed government contracting firm with a true passion for the work and services it was now ready to offer on its own.
Since that time, Pacific West Builders has performed as general contractor and various other contracting related capacities in over 100 government construction projects.
