About Us

History

Pacific West Builders was established in 1982 as a partnership comprised of Patricia Romero and her husband, Dennis Ord. Upon Mr. Ord’s death in 1998, Patricia assumed full control of Pacific West Builders. The firm was reorganized as a sole proprietorship and subsequently incorporated as a Subchapter S corporation in 2003.

Recognizing that strategic planning was necessary for the new organization, Pat formulated a growth plan which identified an expansion into public works contracting as the most feasible arena for growth. She obtained certification for the company as an 8(a) contractor, a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), and a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), allowing entrance into the federal contracting arena through the set aside programs relative to the certifications. The company also located its main corporate office in a HUBZone and Business Enterprise Zone, allowing entrance into an additional set aside program for federal contracting as well as giving certain tax advantages. Having the corporate offices in a hubzone area also helps improve the living standards of those living and working within the hubzone areas by providing job opportunities and increase the tax revenue for the area.

Pacific West Builders is the holder of 4 Navy Multiple Award Construction Contracts (MACC) and 1 California Air National Guard MATOC. A MACC and MATOC is a short list of pre-approved contractors who were awarded contracts to participate in a designated funding pool for specific types of construction projects within a given region and within a specific dollar size range. The MACC’s pr MATCO’s are assigned funding caps for their lifetime, typically 5 years. The program is finished upon reaching its funding capacity or when its program period has expired, whichever shall first occur. Projects are issued as task orders under the basic MACC or MATOC contract and the awarded list of pre-approved contractors are the only ones eligible to compete for those projects.

What We Do

Over the years Pacific West Builders has  constructed or renovated numerous  facilities primarily for various departments of the Federal Government, including the department of the Navy, United States Marine Corps, U.S. Forest Service, California Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, GSA, SPAWAR and others. These projects have been in various locations throughout the Western United States and in Guam.

Most of these projects have been of the design-build contract delivery method, but we have, also, completed many design-bid- build projects. All our projects have been very successful and with a very happy client and end user.

Our project management team listens to the needs and desires of the client and end user and, within the parameters of the RFP and budget, tries diligently to meet or exceed all the needs and desires of the client and end user. Many innovative ideas are presented with many options on how the goals are to be achieved. No ideas or suggestions go unexplored.

Over the years, we have developed very successful working relationships with a few select design consultants whom we hand pick for each project based on their field of expertise. We also have developed very successful relationships with many trade subcontractors and vendors throughout the
United States that can provide all types of construction services, materials and products for any type of construction.

Our experience working for the Federal Government and their various agencies have afforded us the opportunity to work on many types of differing projects in a variety of locations from office buildings, to living quarters, research and development facilities, medical facilities, aircraft facilities, educational facilities, secure facilities, command facilities, fueling and energy management projects, dog kennels, theaters, mess hall and kitchen facilities, vehicle maintenance facilities, simulator buildings, utility infrastructure buildings, band buildings, communication facilities, elevator repair projects, roofing projects, major demolition projects, and many, many other types of projects. Because of our diverse experience, we can select the team that will bring great success to your project whatever and wherever it may be.
